The first step of this extensive project was to beautify the living room, starting with a very unattractive fireplace. I designed a fake wall that was built 20 inches from the working fireplace and required four huge granite slabs to be craned in for installation. On either side of the monumental stone centrepiece, I then created bookcases in a unique wood veneer which also served as brilliant acoustic panels, mopping up sound in the large room. As a nod to my Irish connections in the interiors world, I chose paint colours from Clements & Moore’s Historical Collection by Kraftsmann for the tongue and groove ceiling and throughout the home.
